Photographer? I am interested in becoming a professional photographer and I know a few things (preferably people in the biz).
1.) Why did you go into photography and you feel forfilled?
2.) Did you go to school for it, one, and did it help?
3.) Do you think online courses would work?
4.) How long have you been in the biz?
and
5.) Do you have your own studio?
Although I was a serious - and very good - photographer for over 40 years, I have done my "job" in the last ten years or more.
Am I happy with it? Absolutely! That is why I am now exclusively. I am an adult, and I choose to do things - and only these things - that are meaningful and that make me happy.
I took many classes - especially in a photo program Junior College (one of the best in the country!). but until recently I was quite self-taught. I also taught digital imaging (photography and Photoshop) in an art department of the University for several years.
Today, in addition to restorations custom imagery for artists, and tutoring, I run a teaching site, and two commercial Web sites where I sell my work.
I have no opinion on the online course - but I know that photography is to do things, not to study it. You can learn the basics ... You must learn the basics! ... from many sources. But their application, use, testing, and study your results ... is what will make you a good photographer.
And your last question ... Do I have my own studio? Well, yes. But this is not the typical type of work or shop window, because I do not do this kind of photography - weddings, portraits, etc.
In fact, building a small barn, like sitting in the backyard of my house in Pensacola, Florida. There is a photo of him sitting on my shot if you want to see. http://www.flickr.com/grimitz
Good luck in your efforts. Do it with love, and you will succeed.
