My friend is a finisher and covercreter. This work is essentially paving. He is asked to work tonight after midnight began in the early am today. How many breaks he be given that the duration and the total number of hours he can legally do the coating (physical labor jobs) in a 24 hour period?

16 hours by law. 10 min. brake every two hours and two 20min. lunches, if more than 12 hours.
