Oldcastle Retaining Wall

I'm building a 2-1/2 ft. high retaining wall of 64 pounds of concrete blocks Oldcastle Rampart. Do I need to put on a base of crushed stone or can I put it directly on top of the earth? How many inches of crushed stone or gravel will I need directly behind the wall? Is this correct or gravel must be crushed stone?

Yes, definitely use a base of stone! 2-A modification works very well! In general, you need at least 2 feet deep, 2-B gravel behind the wall! You also need to go at least 2 meters high with gravel to 1 / 2 foot of coverage. Remember to put in a tube DRAIN! I would use 4 "corrugated pipe, works great!

Use crushed stone for your database. Do not forget to put in the drain pipe and backfilling with gravel 2B, 24 inches deep and 2 behind the wall. This will ensure that you have good drainage and your wall will not grow on you.

Well compacted crushed stone will be better than the low ground. Approximately 20 cm of gravel / crushed stone / any material with high permeability will be sufficient drainage behind the wall. Just do not forget to add more pipes to drain rainwater behind the wall.
