Leaf Vac

Leaf VacHow do I make a leaf?

Hello
Im making a leaf collection service in the fall. Im on a tight budget. Does anyone know how I can make my own leaf vac that can connect to a trailer?

For reasons of health and safety (and I am particularly thinking about wet leaves here) I would not suggest how to build one from an old vacuum cleaner. However, a hover mower with collection box installed and set up blades may do the trick.

If you do not have access to a hover mower, so I would just use a rake plastic (not metal) of the leaf. A few jobs later, when the budget has increased, perhaps invest in a "used" vacuum leaves. eBay can be a good place to find one.

Personally, I never remove the leaves from the site. They contain all the benefits of trees taken from the ground. If you keep removing this kind, without replenishment, the soil and the garden will suffer. I like raking leaves on the flower beds and mix in the ground - recycling as nature intended.

I did one three years ago which worked very well. I have a Craftsman riding mower with a catcher. I removed the barrels and pick up the support and half of the growth of grass. Then I added a 8 "diameter polyeurathene shooting rest with a hose clamp 8. I have a small trailer for lawn mower that I used as a catcher foil. To convert the sensor sheet, I placed a piece of 5 / 8 "plywood the width of the trailer and 4 feet high in the trailer cons before the end of the trailer and attached with four small machine screws into holes drilled into the trailer. Cutting 8 "hole in the plywood to 4" from the top and centered from side to side, I am a coupling plate of the same diameter in the hole and set the poly pipe with another clip. I made frame 3 / 4 "pipe and plastic fittings of the same height as the size playwood to keep the trailer from one side to the front and sid-to-back. Then I recovery of Tyvek with a vent in the top covered by a sheet of plastic grill've had in a garden shop. I did the back cover so it can be opened and closed the Help .... to get snaps.

Because the mower blows with enough force it picks up the leaves and moves in the trailer just FIME. The hardest part of all was progject coverage. I originally used plastic sheeting, which has worked well, but did not lasted. Then, Tyvek, but it was good for a couple of years. What I really need is a fact a kind of plasticized fabric as business units, but I could not find anyone to make one for me (I have not tried too hard, though). Hope this helps. (Please forgive spelling, my spell checker does not work)
