Fencing Supplies

Fencing SuppliesWhat is the best place to buy supplies for fencing?

I just bought a new battery which has 26.5 acres. Currently, there are barbed son and corners are formed by cross type really thick. I live in central Minnesota, around the St. Cloud area. I have about 8 horses and a couple of cows. I want to redo all the fences. fences Where can I get the best, yet most economical? I had on my old farm, 1 & 1 / 2 inch poly tape electric fence posts with wooden posts and t-. I now have five barns, but I'll only use 2 for my horses. They are located around the house. If anyone has any suggestions or other please let me know! I could use some stuff!

Congratulations on your new farm. When fence posts are recoverable why not take the wire and reuse positions? You can always replace and / or reinstall all areas that need work.

If it were me I would be wary of using tape or other low electric fence for the outside perimeter of your property too easy for something to break the barrier, then your stock is on the road. ADB LIABILITY discussed a real danger to your pets. An alternative is to use something solid for the perimeter, so cheaper stuff for crossfencing.

One of my neighbors uses Electro-Braid on wooden poles (with electric wooden pole. Isolators). It seems very neat and clean and cheap compared to wood, PVC, or a fence Centaur. In addition, it has a tensile strength much higher than the band is still always visible - no great contrast against the snow, but horses learn that when there is hot-wire positions!

a good place to look for electric fences (which I have used and have used for years) would be your local hardware store or tack shops .... also online at Stateline.com valleyvetsupply.com or fences are good companys supply.
If you want to follow the path much more than you could go to a local sawyer and get bleached fence posts and wooden fence put in yourself. It will take more work and more expensive, but in the long run, you'll have less mantanace it (usually you have to paint the wooden fencing ever few years and thats about it, except a horse kicked a rail or somthing) and it is considered "more beautiful". luck.

We used electrical tape poly with much success. Barbed wire is bad for horses and cattle.

There should Tractor Supply, Farm Fleet, Home Depot, Menards, or other large building materials stores in your area, or something like them. You can also consult the local mill. They usually have supplies and fencing in general the best rate. Otherwise, they can tell you where to find inexpensive fencing for horses and cattle.

hmm, we use the farm or farm fleet fleet

Congratulations on your farm! I would recommend you check the fences I 1 (I included the link). Their catalog is very large horse on the types of fences they offer and how best to use them.

I did lots of research myself and I personally would not buy electric tape or rope in a local store (ie Tractor Supply, Atwood, food store) or StateLineTack. I would go directly to a company that knows something about the sport - has a history of using and testing it - and offer a quality product at a good price.

Fencing cheap is cheap and it will not be a horse. smooth wire and barbed wire will cut the legs of your horse like a knife through butter. PVC or vinyl fencing is weak and breaks w / o is used with a hot wire offset (is - as I am now managing a farm and what type of fence is falling apart).

JMO, but hot wire with a combination of other fencing material is the best way to go. The perimeter fence and paddock fence must be made with different combos and it depends on the type of horses (ie standard?) As the proximity of your horses will be put together and whether they have s hear - or old (and wise) enough to respect the fencing. Keep in mind that in a moment.
