Best Leaf Shredder

Best Leaf ShredderClean-The garden tool should: small leaf Shredder

With the current and ever-increasing pressure on landfills in the United States, it has become all responsibility gardeners make the best use of garden waste they produce. Critical to this effort is to find a way to transform common garden waste such as leaves and twigs of grass into usable compost, and in recent years it has become a task much easier with the development of shredding leaves.

A small leaf shredder is a relatively recent innovation, the development of greater industrial power tools for cutting and wood chip material such as large branches and trunks. A leaf shredder does not require cutting and grinding power of a wood chipper, but takes the same principles and the basic design and integrates it into a portable vacuum unit is much smaller, very similar in look a lawn mower with an attachment fall. In addition, many mills include an entry point for the manual insertion of small branches that are not picked up by the vacuum. Some of the larger units also incorporate a funnel that can be raked leaves directly into the machine rather than requiring a vacuum.

The unit is pushed into the garden, soak up all the leaves and wood debris and small chops and shreds in a garbage bag appeal, perfect to add to your compost pile. The leaves are cut and ground to decompose into compost much easier and faster than whole leaves, and if in addition to reducing their volume by more than 10 times the distribution of composting occurs much faster.

A small leaf shredder is different from the shredder larger units in that it is small rotating blades shred leaves. The power required to crush this delicate matter is also very low compared to machines that require larger blades and a high power for cutting branches and large pieces of wood. Most small leaf shredders will be electrically powered, the blades from spinning when the power is on, and stopping only when the camera is off. This is in contrast with the large units which will usually have gasoline engines and a clutch of maintaining the cutting and chipping isolated action of the engine power.

Inside a small leaf shredder includes a screen that allows only the material that has been shredded to a size small enough to pass through. Screens can often be replaced with different sizes to control how fine the grinding action is. Of course, screens at clog, especially if the leaves are wet, but in general the grinders operate smoothly and efficiently.

With growing environmental concerns of the small leaf shredder has become a major tool to buy many modern gardeners, no longer just the preserve of those who have very large gardens.
